These are some photos of my original Sylvanian Families Village here in South Africa. This single display cabinet has since multiplied and at present, my collection spans four similar display cabinets and then some. My cabinets are all lighted
with 12V LED lights run off of our solar system. Of all lights tested, these have the least impact on my collection over time.
I have since done some modifications to my cabinets to make them dust and bug proof, by adding rubber strips to all of the crevices where nasties could enter. I also keep a little cedar wood block in each shelf, in order to ward off any moths
and creepy crawlies. This means that my Sylvanian Families and Calico Critters figures all have a nice, woodsy smell to them, which I have grown to absolutely adore.
Luckily, here in my area of South Africa, we have a very hot and dry climate, thus mold is not much of a concern to me. However, in the rainy season, I do add little dehumidifier tubs to each cabinet just to be on the safe side, as moldy Sylvanian
Families are just nasty.
